Mine Demand from Gumroad's Top Pages
Gumroad is where creators sell digital products. Its highest-traffic product pages reveal demands people already pay for — no crawler needed, just Semrush.

Want to find demands that people are already paying for? Skip the brainstorming. Go to a marketplace where sellers list digital products, rank its pages by traffic, and read the list like a menu of proven, monetized demand. Gumroad is a perfect hunting ground for this.
(Figures in this article are as mentioned in the original source and have not been independently verified.)
1. Why Gumroad is a demand list, not just a marketplace
Gumroad is a platform where creators sell digital products: they set up a product link, promote it themselves, and keep the revenue. Per Similarweb data cited in the original, the site does about 24.45 million monthly visits, with visitors viewing 4 pages per visit and staying nearly 3 minutes. Most of that traffic comes from sellers’ own social promotion and backlinks — each product page is, in effect, a small business with its own marketing engine.
That makes Gumroad’s page rankings unusually valuable: high-traffic product pages are not just popular content, they are products with buyers.
2. The method: Semrush Top Pages in three steps
The original offers the laziest possible way to get this data — no crawler, no scraping of sales counts or reviews:
- Enter gumroad.com in Semrush, open Traffic Analytics, and go to the Top Pages report.
- Ignore Gumroad’s own feature and marketing pages — you only care about high-traffic product pages.
- If you want search-driven pages, sort by organic search from high to low, then analyze each page’s demand and product form one by one.
The question to ask of every page: what need does this solve, and could I build a product that serves the same need?
3. Case study: the face-rating page
Page number 9 on the list tells the whole story. It sells a face attractiveness rating service, and its traffic comes mostly from social platforms — it only started getting traffic in October, and by November it had already passed 200,000 visits.
The numbers, as the original calculated them: the cheapest tier is €8 (with €17 and €28 options), and the page shows 1,055 sales. At an average of €10 per sale, that is roughly €10,550 — about 82,000 RMB. For comparison, if those ~670,000 visits across November, December and the first 12 days of January had only carried ads, the original’s estimate formula (67×10×2×2) puts ad revenue at about $2,680 — roughly 19,000 RMB.
Same traffic, 82,000 RMB from users versus 19,000 RMB from advertisers.
4. The lesson: charge the user, not the advertiser
That gap is the article’s central argument: a site should not live on ads alone. When you find a demand with real willingness to pay, sell to the user directly. Advertising monetizes attention at wholesale prices; a product monetizes the demand itself at retail prices. The face-rating page is proof — a single simple service, priced from €8, out-earning what the same traffic would make from ads by several times.
5. Old demand, new execution
Face rating is not a new idea. A famous Chinese microblog-era account grew huge a decade ago just by rating people’s looks — the demand is ancient; only the execution changes. Back then it was manual scoring by a human. Today, the original points out, you can rebuild it with AI: take an existing open-source project, adjust the prompt, and ship fast.
That is the deeper pattern to take from this method: the Top Pages list does not only hand you product ideas, it hands you old demands wearing new technology. Your job is to spot which ones are ready for a rebuild.
